Services > MES Opportunity Assessment

Introduction

You know you need to improve your manufacturing efficiency. You know you need to modernize your manufacturing systems. You have limited resources and especially limited time to figure it all out.

There are many technologies, many methodologies, and many standards that promise "the" solution. However, you are smart enough to know that modernization is a journey - not an event - a journey where each step justifies and pays for the next and where your path is unique to your business and your operation.

But, where do you begin?

SlimSoft Solutions has created a fixed price yet very robust service offering to help you begin the journey with confidence. Our MES consultants have a minimum of 10 years experience implementing leading edge manufacturing technologies across a wide range of industries. We have developed the "MES Opportunity Assessment" methodology to quickly identify what MES functionality you need, what infrastructure you need, and what order functions should be implemented in order to achieve maximum velocity of payback.

Benefit now from our experience across hundreds of MES implementation and sign up for your "MES Opportunity Assessment" today.

What is an MES Opportunity Assessment?

THE GOAL

To provide a roadmap for MES implementation balancing profit potentials and investment, and mapping current and future capabilities in an intelligent stepwise fashion.

WHAT WE DO

SlimSoft will send MES consultant(s) to your plant site for up to three days. We will review your manufacturing process, interview key plant personnel, and perform a high level evaluation of your current manufacturing systems and work processes.

We will then prepare a standard report which outlines the observations made from the site visit in the context of our research and experience. That report will contain several key deliverables which form the basis of a modernization plan for your manufacturing systems.

A preliminary version of the report will be delivered to you approximately 2 weeks following our site visit. After reviewing the preliminary report with you and gathering your initial feedback a consultant will then prepare the final version of the report.

After delivering the final report, a consultant will be available to answer your questions and facilitate the next step in your journey.

THE DELIVERABLES

The primary deliverable of the "MES Opportunity Assessment" is a report of approximately 20 pages content. The outline and format of the report is standardized based on SlimSoft's experience while the content is customized based on our principal consultant's observations developed during the site visit.

Contained in the report are several key sections:

  • The Executive Summary will present a high level overview of the business opportunities available to your plant site and a general industry context for your current level of manufacturing systems effectiveness.

  • The Functionality Opportunity Matrix will identify the critical MES functions typically implemented for your style of manufacturing. For each function, an assessment is made of the business criticality and/or potential ROI of that function for your specific operation as well as the readiness of your operation to implement that function.

  • The Solution Roadmap will identify which functional components should be implemented for each area of the plant. Based on the Functionality Opportunity Matrix, and "order of solve" will be established for each area to create logical phases of a potential project. Depending on your style of manufacturing and your plant organization an "area" could be a single production line, a related group of equipment, or the entire plant.

  • The Time and Schedule Estimate will take the first logical phase of the Solution Roadmap and provide a high level estimate of labor required for implementation. Labor requirements will identify both a time estimate as well as skill-set requirements. This information will be a key input into subsequent resource, budget, and project planning.

  • The Capital Estimate will provide a schedule and estimate of infrastructure costs that are expected to be incurred in implementing the Solution Roadmap. This estimate will include software licensing as well as costs for hardware and peripheral infrastructure.
